Turn 180 degrees in chuck, and shape lower portion.
Sand and Add Finish.
Some handles receive a CA (superglue) finish and other are treated with boiled linseed oil, depending on the materials used.
Add Knot.

Gluing up 3 different patterns. The oak dowel in the center is for rigidity and to help keep segments centered.
Brushes utilizing resin require a few more steps. After gluing segments together, the blanks are turned round, then placed into a mold. After mixing the two-part epoxy resin and adding the desired color, the resin is added to the mold and allowed to cure for 48 hours prior to creating the handle shape on the wood lathe.
